about

Born in Naples in 1996, Antonio is a conductor and pianist. Graduated in Piano with honours at the Conservatorio G.Verdi in Milano in 2018, he studied Orchestra Conducting in the class of Mark Stringer and Korrepetition in the class of Andreas Henning and M. Burkert at the MDW – University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, and graduated in October 2023 with highest score.

Since August 2023 he is Studienleiter at Theater Münster (Westfalen) where he devotes himself to Music Theater productions of all kinds and works with excellent colleagues and guests artists.
He also coordinates the Opernstudio of the Theater, offering young talented singers several seminaries and courses aimed to broaden their artistic knowledge and performance-related skills.

Since April 2023 he is the new conductor of the Collegium Music Münster.

During his conducting studies he assisted Maestro V. Kiradjiev at Szceczin´s national Opera House for a production of Pagliacci and Gianni Schicchi and assisted Sirene Theatre´s Così fan Tutte production. In March 2022 he conducted Die Verkaufte Braut at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn, assisting Maestro P. Marschik, and has been the musical director of several MDW operatic productions, such as Gianni Schicchi, Zaide, and Così fan Tutte.

Chamber-music Masterclasses with E. Piemonti, J. Drake, E. Bronzi, I. Rabaglia, and A. Miodini as well as conducting masterclasses with T. Purser, M. Alsop and George Jackson were an integral part of his formation.
During the Covid pandemic he took part to online Talks and Workshops with artists such as Barbara Hanningan, Daniel Harding, Lars Vogt, Roberto Gonzales-Monjas, Duncan Ward, Herbert Blomstedt and Sir Simon Rattle. A very inspiring initiative to share musical thoughts with colleagues and star artists.

As a pianist he explored a very wide range of repertoire, and performed as a soloist (or with orchestra), chamber music formations, répétiteur and Lied accompanist. He also studied Jazz during his stay in Australia, performing later on at Umbria Jazz Festival (2014). International appearances include e.g. Mumuth, Teatro Municipal in Asunciòn, Palazzo Marino, Sala Verdi (Milano), Teatro Gongora de Cordoba, Villa Musica (Mainz). In several occasions he played celesta in the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (ORF).

Interested in the contemporary repertoire, Antonio has studied at the PPCM (Practice and Performance in Contemporary Music) yearly course at KUG, University of Arts, Graz. Modern music performances featured concert halls such as Auditorium Fedele, Sala Puccini, Sala Verdi (Milano), Mumuth (Graz) Fanny Mendelssohn Saal (MDW-Vienna) and include performances and conducting of several premieres of composers such as Natalja Pravosudovic, Beat Furrer, Johanna Wozny and Peter Joyce.

As a conductor, he worked and performed with Proarte Orchestra, Webern Kammersymphonie, Luci della Ribalta Orchestra, Cantus Carnutum Choir, Wiener Kammerorchester, Musikfermata Ensemble, Münster Sinfonieorchester and several other small ensembles.

His interests range from chess to mathematics, from philosophy (which he briefly studied, in Milano) to water sports and to modern art (in some occasions he collaborated as pianist or as composer with an internationally acknowledged artist); he lives with a wonderful dog and hates third person biographical statements.
